What is MacroPATH?
MacroPATH is an innovative digital imaging system designed to enhance macroscopic reporting. The product has been developed by Milestone S.r.l. of Sorisole, Italy and is distributed in the UK through Surgipath Europe Ltd.
The system allows the user to rapidly & easily capture and save real-life or close-up macroscopic images of specimens.
Automatic sizing and block key taking is possible through an intuitive touch-screen procedure while the only processes requiring the use of the keyboard are specimen/patient number recording and image annotation.
Images can be incorporated into diagnostic reports and the files can be made available to all users of the laboratory intranet as required.
The MacroPATH can be used for a variety of applications other than those for histological dissection at the grossing station. MacroPATH can also provide enhance the following:
- Routine photography for all dissection at the grossing station
- Preparation of Standard Operating Procedures to include photographs (SOP’s) for teaching
- Photography of X-Rays
- Colorectal cancer mapping
- Forensic Pathology
- Special interest cases, either BMS or Pathologist
- Archiving of Specimen Request Cards
- Complete body photography within the Mortuary
